Speaking with Access Hollywood, 18-year-old Logan Lerman, the star of Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, says that he’s in early discussions to play Peter Parker in Sony’s unnecessary reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. Says Lerman:
“It’s just, you know, conversations are starting. It’s a long process with the studio and the producers and everything. But it’s definitely a project that I’m really interested in, of course. I’d love to focus on the human element a little bit more. It’d be such a fun experience.”
I don’t understand what he means when he says, “I’d love to focus on the human element a bit more.” A bit more than Raimi and Maguire did? Or more than your focus on action scenes? And yes, my attitude is hostile, not towards Lerman specifically, but just towards this project in general. Sony has set the bar even higher than it was back in 2002 when they released the first Spider-Man movie. It’s very difficult to wash away skepticism regarding any element of this movie. But back to Lerman, I see Percy Jackson tonight so I’ll find out if he’s a good fit for the webs or not.
UPDATE: THR has an update that says Logan Lerman is just one of many actors the studio is looking at. According to a studio spokesman, “No offers have been made, nor have any business discussions been made with Lerman.”

Don't hate this news. I like this kid.
He was in a show I really liked a few years ago called Jack and Bobby and I liked his role in Gamer.
I'd rather him than any of the other names that are being thrown around.
I don't know what to think about this. Tobey is still Peter Parker to me and always will be. We'll just have to see how things go before we can judge him. Maybe he'll outdo Tobey.

Tobey was bland and boring–hardly more than a clothes hanger for the suit. This kid can't be any worse. But they might turn this into a cheesy kiddie movie now and go for the Harry Potter crowd.
This kid was excellent in My One and Only, and held his own opposite of Renee Zellweger. I loved Maguire… but Lerman is very talented.
Not bad. Not real happy about the whole reboot but I like Webb and the idea of playing out what made Lee and Ditko's stories really work. This kid could be pretty good, he's got the look and the talent. Although I like the idea Jay whatshisname from Tropic Thunder as Pete.
i dont know how I feel either. Toby M is still Spiderman to me. I think they should reboot Spiderman 3. Start from there. Spiderman 2 was TOO good to just throw away.
I agree, he played his part well in Gamer. It was actually one of the only actors I quite enjoyed. I haven't seen him in anything else I don't believe but I think he could pull it off- he certainly has a more light-humored feel to him than Tobey did which would make for a better Spiderman.
yea i think that if he is happy with this option, i am too. i am definitly a huge fan of his. i lived him in gamer and hoot. and i am going to see my one and only too. he has some serious talent so i think that he can pull it off. i would like to see him play peter parker. i think it would be pretty cool.
