Phil Lord and Chris Miller have had great success in both the live-action and animated arenas, but now they look to combine the two mediums into one TV comedy series. Their latest project is Son of Zahn, a live-action/animation hybrid that they plan on shooting for Fox. As THR reports, the eight to ten-minute pilot presentation will focus on an animated barbarian dad who returns home to his live-action wife and son after having been away waging war for the last ten years. Other than the obvious conflicts between animated and live-action folks, he also struggles to find common ground with his family, muddle through his mundane office job, and survive suburbia.

It's a pretty weird concept just from a logistical standpoint, but if anyone can pull it off it's Lord and Miller. They've already cast their first live-action actor: Johnny Pemberton, who played Delroy in both the 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street movies, in addition to a number of other roles. He'll play Alan, the moody teenage son of Zahn, when the pilot begins shooting later this summer.

Lord and Miller will also be hard at work on the second season of The Last Man on Earth, starring Will Forte. Oh and let's not forget their other upcoming projects, like 23 Jump Street, spinning the story for Sony's animated Spider-Man movie, a sequel to The LEGO Movie, developing the story for a new feature-length version of The Flash, and act as producers on both the Ninjago spin-off feature and The LEGO Batman movie. Is there anything these two can't do?
