We got a tease of what goes down when aliens attack Earth using characters from classic arcade games in the first Pixels trailer, but now it's time to meet the folks called upon to take them on, the President's (Kevin James) old-school arcade friends Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad) and Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant (Peter Dinklage).

Check out the brand new Pixels trailer below via Sony. The film also stars Michelle Monaghan and Brian Cox, and is due in theaters on July 24th.

Turning the world into a giant video game isn't safe for anyone, not even a Smurf!  Though the new trailer has recycled some content from the first, like the ending, overall it gives a better (as in, more positive) feel for the movie's action and effects, all of which looks pretty good despite the presence of Adam Sandler. (Nothing against him personally, it's just that his recent movie track record has not been great). It also gives a little more info about each of the film's leads, and their particular talents. As for whether or not the movie will actually be good ... for now, let's just cling to Wreck-It Ralph and dream big.

Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:

As kids in the 1980s, Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Will Cooper (Kevin James), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad), and Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant (Peter Dinklage) saved the world thousands of times – at 25 cents a game in the video arcades.  Now, they’re going to have to do it for real.  In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their assaults -- and now-U.S. President Cooper must call on his old-school arcade friends to save the world from being destroyed by PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Centipede, and Space Invaders.  Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with unique weapons to fight the aliens.
