Good news if you’re the type who cannot get enough zombie mayhem on the big screen. As we await Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Variety brings us word that the latest zombie incarnation to hit cinemas will be Ryan Brown’s debut novel Play Dead. Joe Schreiber (Au Revoir, Crazy European Chick) will dig up the novel and position it for the big screen, with a tentative 2011 start date. The story revolves around football player zombies bent on revenge in a gridiron-obsessed Texas town.
Mark Canton (300) will produce under his Atmosphere Entertainment banner. This will be his second foray into zombie-land, having produced George A. Romero’s 2005 film Land of the Dead. No word yet on who will direct or star.
