Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment have released the first Point Break images from director Ericson Core’s (Invincible) upcoming remake of Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 film of the same name. The redo stars Luke Bracey as Johnny Utah, a young FBI agent who infiltrates a team of thrill-seeking athletes led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez).

These images don’t reveal much, but they do seem to confirm that Core’s film leans heavily on the “extreme sports” world to bring the thrills to the big screen. Indeed, Core not only serves as the film’s director, but also the director of photography.

Check out the photos below, via Warner Bros., and look for Steve’s reaction to seeing the first footage from the pic later on Collider. The film also stars Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer, and Delroy Lindo. Point Break opens in 2D and 3D on December 25th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Point Break:

In Alcon Entertainment’s fast-paced, high-adrenaline action thriller “Point Break,” a young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey), infiltrates a cunning team of thrill seeking elite athletes, led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez). The athletes are suspected of carrying out a string of staggering crimes that kill innocent people and send the world’s economy into a tailspin.

Deep undercover, and with his life in imminent danger, Utah strives to prove they are the callous architects of these inconceivable crimes.

The film is replete with the most daring athleticism ever seen in a motion picture. These action adventure feats are performed by extreme athletes representing the world’s best in class in big-wave surfing, wingsuit flying, sheer-face snowboarding, free rock climbing, and high-speed motorcycling.
