Deadline reports that Harris has landed a lead in the Poltergeist remake. “Harris will play Carrigan, a larger than life TV personality who left the world of academia behind to become the star host of basic cable TV show Haunted House Cleaners.” Rosemarie DeWitt (Cinderella Man) was cast in a lead role earlier this summer and Sam Rockwell (Moon) remains rumored. Harris can currently be seen in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and will voice a character in the upcoming Laika animated film, The Boxtrolls.
Deadline also reports that Hendricks has moved up to a lead role in Dark Places, which recently began production. Originally cast as stripper Krissi Cates, Hendricks will now take on the role of Patty Day, the murdered mother of Libby Davis (Charlize Theron). The film, adapted from Gillian Flynn’s novel of the same name, Dark Places follows Libby as she learns about the “supposed massacre of her family by brother Ben, which she testified in court decades beforehand, might not be what was assumed. Hendrick’s Patty will be seen in a series of flashbacks throughout the movie as the truth of really happened and what Libby really saw becomes clearer.” The cast also includes Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Corey Stoll and Tye Sheridan. Hendricks also stars in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster.
