The first episode of Powers, Playstation’s first-ever series, is now streaming for free via YouTube. Adapted from Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s Eisner-winning (and generally awesome) comic series of the same name, the show follows the detectives of the Powers Division, which polices a world where superheroes and villains exist amongst the merely human populace. Think of The Incredibles reimagined by David Fincher from the point of view of a flatfoot and you’re in the vicinity of what Bendis and Oeming are up to.

The inaugural season opens with the murder of a superhero, a case that helps bond Detectives Christian Walker (Chappie himself, Sharlto Copley), a former superhero who lost his powers, and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), his new partner. Their job gets trickier when it’s revealed that the only witness to the murder is Calista, a young, abused girl. The series also stars Eddie Izzard and Noah Taylor as other Powers Division investigators, as well as Michelle Forbes as Retro Girl, one of this world's most famous superheroes.

The series premieres tonight and is entirely free to any Playstation Plus member, but you can watch the first episode here:
