First Trailer for PREMIUM RUSH Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Shannon

by     Posted 3 years, 96 days ago

The first trailer for co-writer/director David Koepp’s (Ghost Town) action/thriller Premium Rush is now available online. Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shannon, Jamie Chung, Dania Ramirez and The Daily Show‘s Aasif Mandvi, the film centers on Wilee (Gordon-Levitt), a New York bicycle messenger who has a routine delivery turn into a life or death situation. Based on the trailer, Premium Rush looks to be a stylish thriller and while some of the dialogue may seem a little heavy-handed, I’m willing to take a chance on anything that features both Gordon-Levitt and Shannon.

Check out the trailer for yourself after the jump. Premium Rush hits theaters on January 13, 2012.

Here’s the official synopsis for Premium Rush:

Dodging speeding cars, crazed cabbies, open doors, and eight million cranky pedestrians is all in a day’s work for Wilee, the best of New York’s agile and aggressive bicycle messengers. It takes a special breed to ride the fixie — super lightweight, single-gear bikes with no brakes and riders who are equal part skilled cyclists and suicidal nutcases who risk becoming a smear on the pavement every time they head into traffic.

But a guy who’s used to putting his life on the line is about to get more than even he is used to when a routine delivery turns into a life or death chase through the streets of Manhattan. When Wilee picks up his last envelope of the day on a premium rush run, he discovers this package is different. This time, someone is actually trying to kill him.

Amusingly enough the most unrealistic thing in that trailer is the idea that bike messengers actually wear helmets

Niiiiiiice. Reminds me of Limitless and Source Code. Wanna see it =)

So they remade Kevin Bacon’s “QuickSilver” for the modern era. May have some differences in plot but basically bike messenger takes on organized crime but can’t involve cops so he enlists his brotherhood of cyclists to save the girl.

Just tell me there is the “call to arms” montage which gathers all the cyclists together using Twitter. It really just brings the movie together…like that chocolate colored couch in a turquoise room.

This movie is based off of the novel “The Ultimate Rush” by Joe Quirk. Sony did not purchase the rights to the book. So sad, because the book was effin’ amazing.
