The viral campaign for Prometheus continues to dole out great material. I don’t know how they’ll top the ad for the David 8 (Michael Fassbender), but today’s new release is still worth your time. The site Blogbusters received an “audio puzzle”, and the solution was playing the audio backwards. And when you play the audio backwards, you get a chilling audio clip from the movie. We’ve already heard the “Get it off! Get it off!” part in the trailers, but there’s a full minute of terror packed into this thing. This may be even more effective than if they had provided the visuals as well.
Hit the jump to listen to the clip. The film also stars Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Rafe Spall, Sean Harris, Logan Marshall-Green, Guy Pearce, and Charlize Theron. Prometheus opens in 3D on June 8th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Prometheus:
Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

He says “cut it off, cut it off!!” and not “get it off”. Hugh difference. Can you imagine how much agony and fear one must be experiencing to direct someone to slice off your own appendage to quell the danger?? Sheesh!!
Hey, I went to high school with Hugh Difference! How do you know him?
that sounds great!
That’s so much more effective than seeing the images. So much great sound design happening here. All the squishing and squeezing sounds mixed among the screaming are so disgustingly creepy!
(But maybe they should have ended the clip before the little passive aggressive bit at the end: “Maybe you should help me now, okay?” Kinda takes a little of the scary out of it. HAHAHA!)
It’s played backwards. The “passive/aggressive” portion is the start and the arm crushing is the end. If you listen for the breaks in the dialogue, it’s pretty effective.
Agreed. Chaotic and fairly ominous at the beginning of the clip and then it ends with the victim in a better state of mind. Me thinks this scene in the film will play out in a backwards sequence of events from this audio. This is all I’ve allowed myself since the full length trailer hit and I will not be attempting to spoil myself even further… June 8th can’t get here fast enough!
Hey, I’m just going by the sound clip posted above. I agree, it would be a lot better to start with the “you’re strong” bit. I know the viral marketers released it in reverse, but I’m just reacting to the clip as posted here. If there’s a mistake in the order of the clip, so be it. But as presented it’s kind of neutering the effectiveness. Just one guy’s opinion.
Loved tha shit outta that…all the way up till he says…”You’re strong. Maybe you should help me now, okay?”
Yes,… I think is “Cut it off” and I don’t know why, but I think is Idris Elba voice,… I hope not, because I like him, and I hope he survives.
Freaky! And I love it.
Makes me think of Christopher Rowley’s “Vang” series. (Which I would love see made into a movie.)
