New Image from Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS Featuring Michael Fassbender [Updated with Final Trailer Preview]

In lieu of “Epic Trailers Week”, the first trailer for director Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is set to debut tomorrow. The studio has already released two “trailer previews” which reveal a bit of footage from the film as well as some behind-the-scenes material. Today Fox has released a new image from the sci-fi pic, giving us a new look at star Michael Fassbender. The actor plays an android in the Alien-tied movie, but that’s just about all we know about his character at the moment. The image isn’t too revealing, as it just shows Fassbender on some planet looking perplexed and holding a flashlight. From the material we’ve seen thus far, all signs point to Prometheus being a horror film which I’m very happy with. We should know more once the trailer hits tomorrow.

Hit the jump to check out the image. The film also stars Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, and Guy Pearce. Prometheus opens in 3D on June 8th, 2012. [Update: A final trailer preview has been released, and I've included it after the jump along with the image.]

  1. Daaaaaaaaaaamn that fool done trimmed the F down to play an android…what happened to the puffy figure that Ash got to sport?

    :-)

  2. I´m freaking out right now. In a good way. First DKR, then Hobbit and tomorrow Prometheus. I can´t decide which one is best. One thing is for sure. The setdesign and costumes and weapons in Prometheus look better than anything I have seen in sci-fi the last 1 years. It´s like an updated version of Alien and Aliens combined. In Avatar which had great visual effects and cgi the weapons looked too fake. What remains to be seen is if Prometheus will have a great story. i trust Ridley Scott on this one.

  3. I guess I just can’t get excited about this project. Yet.

For one thing, I haven’t liked a Ridley Scott in a very long time. He’s been on “okay” status for about 2 decades.

Two, I never felt the need to know where the Alien xenomorphs come from. I don’t want to know where the Astronomer comes from. Could they have a great story behind them? Of course. But I have a feeling this movie is gonna be just another film that chips away at the special-ness of the original Alien.

Three, I have no faith in that Damon Lost guy. I just finished watching Lost. What a mess story-wise. And if the same guy is trying his hand at more “intellectual” sci-fi, we could be in for another mess.

I’ll see it when it comes out. But I’m certainly not leaping out of my seat over this project. And this is coming from a guy that puts Blade Runner in his top 5.

  4. I’m afraid to see this because Alien is so damn slow seeing it multiple times. I hope this is faster paced than Alien, that’s all.

    • That’s what I like about Alien, it’s a slow burn character-driven movie that gradually builds tension rather than some rushed effort throwing action scenes at you every 5 minutes.
