Director Ridley Scott’s sci-fi pic Prometheus has been shrouded in mystery for some time now, with only one image released and no footage shown to the general public (we got a peek at a sizzle-reel/trailer at Comic-Con). However, all that’s about to change as the first crop of actor-revealing images appear in this week’s EW. We get a look at stars Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender in spacesuits on an unknown planet, a gigantic head statue, and what look to be primitive forms of the eggs seen in Alien. We also get a peek at Charlize Theron and Idris Elba.
Long said to be a prequel to Scott’s sci-fi/horror classic Alien, the director recently revealed that the last eight minutes of Prometheus will “evolve into a pretty good DNA of the Alien one.” With these images getting released this week, a trailer can’t be far behind. I loved what I saw at Comic-Con (it’s much more in the vein of a horror drama like Alien than a bang ‘em up action picture), so I’m very much looking forward to this one. Prometheus opens in 3D on June 8th, 2012.

That is some of the worst photoshopping I have ever seen in that two-page spread. How hard is it to do it right? For that matter, what was wrong with the original picture, that they needed to cut-n-paste heads willy-nilly?
Speaking of heads, can’t wait to learn more about that giant one. To jymmmymack: we’re not freaking out because WE ALL WANT TO SEE THEM.

Why do the heads look so horribly photoshopped onto their bodies?
The collar lighting screws with the look of the neck. Kind of like people with strong muscle tone looking smaller than they actually are i.e. Chris Evans in the new Captain America costume and Tom Hardy as Bane
@Wes: It’s not that the heads are the wrong size, it’s that they at COMPLETELY the wrong angles to the bodies. Particularly the two men. It has nothing to do with the costumes, and I guarantee you that if there even is an original photo (the whole thing might be a composite), it doesn’t look like that.

No, it’s not. The suits are lit from the inside, which gives you this impression. But take a look at the high-resolution scans and you’ll see…

It just shows off even more how fake the photo is. Every single head is at a crazy angle to the body, and the level of detail on the heads is radically different from that of the bodies, as if the heads were from photographs, and the bodies were CG, or heavily digitally altered.
I think they are the aliens in the movie.
@ lolo: there is something called Specular and diffuse reflection of the light.
And none of those are correctly rendered on the heads.

I’ve just seen some more ‘leaked’ images including what looks to be something walking on hindlegs (very Splice) and Noomi Rapace with a flamethrower and Michael Fassbender wearing a TRON style light helmet.
some site called D’Ment’D Cinema has them but I reckon they’ll be taken down. The quality was piss poor – like taken from a trailer or something.

I think the photos were shooped to show a clear and direct view of the actors faces in a misguided attempt to show off the marquee cast in the movie.
