In keeping with today's unofficial "Prometheus Day" theme, a new IMAX trailer for director Ridley Scott's sci-fi film has gone online. A fan Q&A with Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron is already up, the film's WonderCon panel with Scott and screenwriter Damon Lindelof takes place later today, and tonight Scott and Lindelof will be debuting a new trailer (followed by a Q&A) at Downtown Disney. In short, there's plenty of Prometheus goodness to go around on this fine Saturday. The trailer features quite a bit of new footage, including a look at terror, the space jockey, quite a bit of action, and more terror. It still plays sort of like a teaser, which I'm happy with. The longer we can wait before the trailers give away the whole plot of the movie, the better. Noomi Rapace takes a prominent role here, and she appears to be more than just a normal astronaut or soldier-type. Be sure to check back here later today for our full report from the film's WonderCon panel. Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Guy Pearce. Prometheus opens in IMAX 3D on June 8th.Here's the synopsis for Prometheus:

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.
