Prometheus hasn’t landed yet, but a new three-minute trailer has. It shows a ton of new footage (which may be on the spoilery side) and emphasizes Charlize Theron’s character, Meredith Vickers. Vickers comes across like a female version of Stephen Lang’s Colonel in Avatar and clearly has a seedy agenda (which is blatantly called out in a spat of coarse dialogue). The trailer plays as a mini-movie of sorts, a condensed version of what we can expect when the full theatrical release hits theaters on June 8th. well it looks exactly like one would expect it so the only spoiler ist that it doesn´t look that interesting or intriguing anymore.i liked science fiction because it used to surprise, doesn´t seem to be the case anymore.but i still got hopes there´s more to it than one can assume from the trailers…

As the Alien prequel, the technology looks a bit advanced. Too advanced to be prior to the Nostromo. But no way in Hell I’ll be missing it.

@BubbaT. I think the assumption is that the ship Prometheus is a top of the line research vessel funded directly by Weyland. So, it really would be a beautiful state-of-the-art ship.
The trailer is fantastic. Though no more trailers would be a good move. There’s just enough there to whet your appetite but if you start freeze-framing it, there will be spoilers there.
CERTIFICATE:
I note with some interest that the UK board of film certification has rated the _trailer_ as a 12. Literally no-one under 12 should see it, regardless of being accompanied by a parent. Now, taking that into account, and the intensity of the trailer and what it hints about the film, that means in the UK the movie must surely be at least rated 15. UK 15 would mean R in the states as PG-13 would allow under-13s to see it if with a parent, and that doesn’t seem right looking at the trailer.
Well, if it’s a UK 15, I’ll be happy, seeing as I’ve already forked out money for the IMAX. I find American cinema very odd, considering kids can watch PG-13 films that sometimes get a higher certificate elsewhere, go figure.

The other thing is, it’s somewhat unclear as to how soon after Prometheus (the movie) that the movie Alien is set. Even if it’s, say, 50 years, the tech on the Nostromo is still believable. If I was building a ship for a bunch of salvagers/miners, I think I’d be inclined to give them the ‘rugged’ equipment – difficult to break, easy to replace (like the push-button controls of the Nostromo – very sturdy stuff).
It’s not like the difference between Star Trek original series and the new Star Trek movies… that’s just a bit ridiculous! Especially considering it’s supposed to be the same ship.

My guess is the Elephant nose aliens in this movie are the advanced race, and the aliens from the Aliens movies (ie the ones with tails and acid blood) are like pets to the Elephant nose ones. Just a guess…

I don’t really think there’s anything too spoilerish in there – I’ve been avoiding press most of the time, but last night was like an event in itself, and I wanted to be part of it – I’m glad I was, it felt great!!

I don’t really get why everyone is saying THIS specific trailer is so chock full of spoilers… I certainly understand that watching too many trailers will spoil things but this trailer doesn’t seem any more spoilerific than the previous trailer (which had its own lot of spoilers)
Personally I know I shouldn’t be coming through these trailers but I can’t help myself. There seem to be so many elements of danger at play here (from my count we have ****SPOILERS***** cobra-thingys, space jockeys, creepy fassbender droids with green goop, crew members gone insane, shifty corporate leaders, some kinda acid, some sort of slug thing and hell possibly the original xenomorph), it’ll be exciting to see how they all fits together.
Why do people keep calling it an elephant-nose alien, it looks like the same being they showed but with a helmet on for space-travel no? Or am I missing something?
