New Three-Minute PROMETHEUS Trailer Has Loads of New Footage and a Great Look at Alien Life Forms

Prometheus hasn’t landed yet, but a new three-minute trailer has.  It shows a ton of new footage (which may be on the spoilery side) and emphasizes Charlize Theron’s character, Meredith Vickers.  Vickers comes across like a female version of Stephen Lang’s Colonel in Avatar and clearly has a seedy agenda (which is blatantly called out in a spat of coarse dialogue).  The trailer plays as a mini-movie of sorts, a condensed version of what we can expect when the full theatrical release hits theaters on June 8th.  Get caught up on all of our previous coverage here, including images, featurettes, posters, what the film will be rated and the ongoing viral marketing campaign.  Directed by Ridley Scott, Prometheus also stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Guy Pearce.  Hit the jump to check out the awesome new trailer.

Check out the new trailer for Prometheus (via The Playlist) below the official synopsis :

Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

    • Steve

      it is. don’t

    • John

Agreed. I want to watch it, but will resist. They have done a good job of keeping the story vague in previous trailers, and I’m not going to ruin it now.

    • tornado victory

well it looks exactly like one would expect it so the only spoiler ist that it doesn´t look that interesting or intriguing anymore.i liked science fiction because it used to surprise, doesn´t seem to be the case anymore.but i still got hopes there´s more to it than one can assume from the trailers…

    • BATFINK

      Does show waaaaaaaaayyyyy to much!!!!!

I did like that creature I’m dubbing “Egg-Head” near the end.

      • batfink

correction, that isnt an egg faced Alien, its a space helmet melting.

This movie is begging to be seen IMAX and I will oblige. I am going to take black & red licorice, popcorn, a tasty drink and a snack or two….If Ridley wasnt involved, I would just do popcorn. This is sci-fi food for the sci-fi junkie….Let’s do it

    • Jesus

“I am going to take black & red licorice, popcorn, a tasty drink and a snack or two….”

Because black licorice, red licorice, and popcorn…aren’t snacks?

    • Jesus

Oh, and don’t forget your insulin.

  • Reggie

2nd most anticipated movie of the year for me. Looking better all the time.

  • Hamburg

Shows way too much of the film

  • Mik

My theory is one of the beautiful ladies will become the Bitch we come to love and produce the Aliens.

Knew I shouldn’t have watched it. Too much. I was on such a good streak of not watching spoiler trailers.

Yes! Looks scarier than I expected!

  • buzzfunk

I really don’t understand the reason of releasing yet another full 3 min trailer. I mean, does Ridley sign off on these?

Remember the original ALIEN trailer? It was brilliant because it showed a lot yet didn’t explain anything.

Luckily, so far I have not giving into temptation on this last trailer. Its only 5 weeks til movie now. I can, no have to, wait.

  • wacko3205

    Holy Moses!!!

That shows a whole lotta sumpin!!!

I would avoid this’n @ all costs if ya dont wanna be spoilt.

Very good trailer though. Terribley & terrifically violent.

  • BubbaT

As the Alien prequel, the technology looks a bit advanced. Too advanced to be prior to the Nostromo. But no way in Hell I’ll be missing it.

It’s baffling how this has 303 views and over 2,500 likes on youtube. How does that work?

@BubbaT. I think the assumption is that the ship Prometheus is a top of the line research vessel funded directly by Weyland. So, it really would be a beautiful state-of-the-art ship.

The trailer is fantastic. Though no more trailers would be a good move. There’s just enough there to whet your appetite but if you start freeze-framing it, there will be spoilers there.

    CERTIFICATE:
I note with some interest that the UK board of film certification has rated the _trailer_ as a 12. Literally no-one under 12 should see it, regardless of being accompanied by a parent. Now, taking that into account, and the intensity of the trailer and what it hints about the film, that means in the UK the movie must surely be at least rated 15. UK 15 would mean R in the states as PG-13 would allow under-13s to see it if with a parent, and that doesn’t seem right looking at the trailer.

    • Jazzy Jace

Well, if it’s a UK 15, I’ll be happy, seeing as I’ve already forked out money for the IMAX. I find American cinema very odd, considering kids can watch PG-13 films that sometimes get a higher certificate elsewhere, go figure.

  • Michael Horne

    @BubbaT
The other thing is, it’s somewhat unclear as to how soon after Prometheus (the movie) that the movie Alien is set. Even if it’s, say, 50 years, the tech on the Nostromo is still believable. If I was building a ship for a bunch of salvagers/miners, I think I’d be inclined to give them the ‘rugged’ equipment – difficult to break, easy to replace (like the push-button controls of the Nostromo – very sturdy stuff).
It’s not like the difference between Star Trek original series and the new Star Trek movies… that’s just a bit ridiculous! Especially considering it’s supposed to be the same ship.

  • Jenn

I’m not a girl for memes… But Ridley Scott, just take my money… I’m going to see this multiple times.

    • Mike

Funny you say that. I was thinking the exact same thing of watching it multiple times.

      • Grant keanan

Oh dear, funny you should say that,I was thinking the same thing too .I cant seem to stop grinning .Am so going to watch this in IMAX…and multiple times too.
MY mOST Anticipated flick of the year.

My guess is the Elephant nose aliens in this movie are the advanced race, and the aliens from the Aliens movies (ie the ones with tails and acid blood) are like pets to the Elephant nose ones. Just a guess…

  • Andrew

    CANNOT WAIT!!!
Hurry here a bit quicker June will ya!!

  • Mike

Ok, so it coming out June 1st or June 8th? The trailer says the 1st and the poster says the 8th. Hoping the 1st because I am free that weekend.

  • terry

For you pansies bitching about spoilers, this is a PREQUEL.
So we know the effing story guys and dolls and most obviously we know what the alien looks like.
    I can’t wait.

    THATS WHAT SHE SAID

I wonder if this is a prequel to Alien?

Really, why did he ever deny it?

I don’t really think there’s anything too spoilerish in there – I’ve been avoiding press most of the time, but last night was like an event in itself, and I wanted to be part of it – I’m glad I was, it felt great!!

Just can’t wait for this movie now, going into hiding :)

I don’t really get why everyone is saying THIS specific trailer is so chock full of spoilers… I certainly understand that watching too many trailers will spoil things but this trailer doesn’t seem any more spoilerific than the previous trailer (which had its own lot of spoilers)

Personally I know I shouldn’t be coming through these trailers but I can’t help myself. There seem to be so many elements of danger at play here (from my count we have ****SPOILERS***** cobra-thingys, space jockeys, creepy fassbender droids with green goop, crew members gone insane, shifty corporate leaders, some kinda acid, some sort of slug thing and hell possibly the original xenomorph), it’ll be exciting to see how they all fits together.

  • Roberto Da Costa

Why do people keep calling it an elephant-nose alien, it looks like the same being they showed but with a helmet on for space-travel no? Or am I missing something?

    • Slice

It’s a helmet most def. You can watch the older trailer *spoiler* and see the Jockey sans helmet.

  • Slice

I just hope there’s no smoke monster who posses people after the “plane” crashes on this “island-like” planet. Damon L – I’m hoping you don’t screw this pooch…
