With all the buzz surrounding new trailers for The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man recently, I had almost forgotten about one of the most anticipated movies of the year: Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. An international teaser trailer for the sci-fi pic hit the web today, and it’s sufficiently fantastic. We don’t get a ton of new footage in this trailer that wasn’t in the domestic teaser, but the in-your-face horror aspect of the film is still extremely effective. In a sea full of bright and colorful big-budget fare, Prometheus promises to be a breath of fresh air (or, more likely, a smack in the face). I love the tone of terror running throughout all the footage, and Scott himself told us last year at Comic-Con that his goal was to “scare the shit” out of the audience. I sincerely doubt he’ll fall short.

No, there is absolutely NO new footage. A matter of fact, this title-less trailer was released a week ago.
I don’t see any new footage AT ALL. That’s fine though…truthfully, I don’t want to be spoiled any more than I already am. I know this movie is going to rock my (our) world…that’s all I need to know.
I just recently watched Alien for the first time (shame on me) and I was blown away. I cannot wait for this! I’m sure it’s been mentioned, but it sure looks like a prequel of some sorts.
I really don’t like Horror movies, but holy shit that looks amazing. Why couldn’t they make a big budget transformers type blockbuster with that kind of quality and passionate director who actually cares about the story and not just big ass explosions.
I may have to check this out after all. Creepy but SciFi.

To my eye, all the footage looks exactly the same. The only differences I noticed were text based. A) The “Prometheus” lettering didn’t slowly assemble over the picture during the first half of the trailer. B) It didn’t have the text over the black screen cut-aways in the end: “They went looking for our beginning. What they found could be our end.” C) Also, it was missing the credits and coming soon info at the end.
Why? Well, I expect this is more of a “template” for the international trailer and not quite the actual finished trailer. I expect the text was left out so that it can be replaced by appropriate translations into the languages of the countries where it’s going to be shown.

It is EXACTLY the same trailer just with the text removed for translation in foreign languages
