In what could be our first look at official plot information for the DreamWorks franchise entries Puss in Boots and Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom, the Licensing International Expo material has included short synopses.  Puss in Boots will spin off Antonio Banderas’ cute feline character from the Shrek franchise, which in theory wrapped up its final chapter this May.  The Kaboom of Doom is a sequel to 2008’s tale of the destiny of panda Po (voiced by Jack Black) as a martial arts hero.  Hit the jump for the synopses:

Here’s the synopsis for Puss in Boots:

“The swashbuckling feline from the Shrek movies teams with two pals to steal the famous Goose that lays the Golden Egg.”

That seems as good a fairy tale as any to structure a quasi-Shrek film around.  Salma Hayek and Zach Galifianakis will join Banderas for Puss in Boots, set for a 3D release on November 4, 2011.

Here’s the synopsis for Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom

“Po and the Furious Five venture in China to battle a villain and uncover the secrets of Po’s mysterious origins.”

I was completely unaware that Po was a product of “mysterious origins”: I assume he will attempt to track down his birth (i.e. non-goose) parents?  Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, and Dustin Hoffman are all set to reprise their roles from the first movie, and will be joined by Gary Oldman, Jean Claude Van Damme, Michelle Yeoh, and Victor Garber.  Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom hits theaters in 3D on May 27, 2011.
