With Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones getting released around the country tomorrow, it’s time for my final video interview and it’s with Rachel Weisz. The reason I got to speak with the cast is our partners at Omelete were invited to the international press day and they sent me to cover it. So a big thank you to them for making this happen.
The Lovely Bones is based on the novel by Alice Sebold and it’s about a 14-year-old girl named Susie Salmon who is lured into a makeshift underground den in a cornfield and brutally raped and murdered, the latest victim of a serial killer-the man she knew as her neighbor. From heaven, Susie keeps watch over her grieving family and friends, as well as her brazen killer and the sad detective working on her case. The film stars Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Michael Imperioli and Saoirse Ronan.
During my interview with Rachel Weisz I decided to start off my asking a question she hadn’t been asked…so I asked about The Brothers Bloom. Of course we also talked about Lovely Bones, filming the movie, working for Peter Jackson, and we even talked about Twitter and Facebook. It’s a great interview so take a look:
Rachel Weisz
- Rather than start with a typical question, I start by asking about The Brothers Bloom
- Is she into Twitter or Facebook
- How fast did she sign onto this project after Peter Jackson contacted her
- Did she know about the book
- The break in filming
- Filming in Pennsylvania
- What does she think makes Peter Jackson such a great director
- Agora talk

Great actress and i love all her work, especially “The Brothers Bloom”. She looks very tired from all the interviewing.
I hate the fact that Lovely Bones is getting bad buzz .Reviews are also not good for this movie after all it was Peter Jackson one of my favourite film makers how the hell did go wrong anyway let's forget it .As for Rachel Weisz she had good role in Brothers Bloom looking forward her next movie Agora it looks good from the trailer and it has already bagged $30 million in Spain and word mouth should be good in the states for this movie too.
Word is that Jackson cut a lot of stuff out of the movie, so much so that the film does not quite make any sense in certain parts of the film. Rachel Weisz said that most of the family story was in fact shot but was left on the cutting room floor, making most of the performances seem rather flimsy.
If there is any blame to go around, it should falls on Peter Jackson.
I haven't seen the film, it looks good but I'll have to save my judgments for next week when I get my student loans in (until then I'm literally broke). Going to have a movie marathon when I get the money though, Avatar, The Lovely Bones, and Daybreakers. Maybe even another movie who knows.

Good ones are beyond all comparison. I won't draw a comparison between Rachel and other contemporaries. But I wanna say, Rachel is awesome in her field. Oscar is not the ultimatum, I think. Standing outside any awards, I can be firm in my thought, as far I see her. The Mummy series still amaze me. I don't deny to praise all her co-actors, but if you want my comment, I say: “I really love Rachel… I can shout without any hesitation and fear”.
