Teaser Trailer for THE RAID 2: BERANDAL

     November 6, 2013

The teaser trailer for The Raid 2: Berandal has gone online, and one thing is for certain: walls ain’t got nothing on Rama (Iko Uwais).  Filming took 100 days, but the brief trailer shows there’s a whole new mess of trouble.  Director Gareth Evans has said the new film picks up two hours after the first one ended, but the teaser trailer raises the question of why Rama has landed in prison.  While is incarceration may be a mystery, there’s no doubt that his fists of fury haven’t lost a beat.  Evans says the sequel will have over an hour of action, and as you’ll see, this is just a brief taste of the madness to come.

Hit the jump to check out the teaser trailer, and click here for Steve’s interview with Evans from Sundance 2011.  The film also stars  Julie Estelle (Macabre), Alex Abbad (Merantau), Marsha Timothy (The Forbidden Door), Mathias Muchus, Tio Pakusadewo, and Cecep Arif Rahman.  The Raid 2: Berandal is due out next year.

Looks sick! I could see that image of the bloody chalk man on the wall becoming iconic.

My heart may give out due to sheer intensity if it’s even just a little more than the first one.

“madness to come” indeed.. hope Shinoda is back as well.

I do believe we have a “Mad Dog” sighting at 0:38. Some crazy facial hair going on, but those eyes are unmistakable. Which is weird, because they killed that dude in The Raid: Redemption. And he wasn’t just a little killed; he was a lot killed. They killed him ’til he died from it. But he’s still back.

And it’s weird how Rama can seemingly gain, I dunna, 15 – 20 pounds if this movie really takes place two hours after the end of the first one. He’s looking… jowlier.

Yayan “Mad Dog” Ruhian will be in the movie as a different character named Prakoso.
As for Rama gaining weight, we’re not sure if the prison scene is exactly 2 hours after the first movie. Maybe there are earlier scenes than this prison scene.
But in real life Iko seems to gain weight especially after he got married last year. BTW, he’s just been blessed with a beautiful baby girl few weeks ago.

      • Unemployed_Northeastern

It’s great to hear Yayan is back in the movie; he choreographed the fights in the first one, didn’t he?

And congrats to Iko, of course!

The film takes place two hours after the end of the first one AND from the there the story spans to 3 years later.
