This fall, Sony launches the newest addition to the popular Ratchet and Clank series: Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. Those familiar with the game know that in addition to the incredible vast environments you can explore, there are also a ludicrous amount of fun and silly special weapons at your disposal. So to help promote the game, Sony held an event at Comic-Con. Here’s my report:
Insomniac actually held a contest for RCFCT wherein they sought out a new weapon designed by created and then chosen by the fans. After a thousand entries for Ratchet’s new gun yielded five finalists, Playstation announced that the winning entry, and new addition to the Ratchet arsenal, is the Spiral of Death. The Spiral of Death is basically a yo-yo with a spinning saw blade. Cut down enemies. Cut through the environment. All five finalists were great entries and I hope that someday they also add the Giant Super Sticky Hand as well. Just like the kind in a cereal box, only much, much bigger!
Folks at E3 already got a taste of Ratchet game play, but at Comic Con we finally got to experience a little Clank as Sony unveiled Clank missions for the first time. A new feature for this, the seventh edition in the series will be Clank’s ability to record and play through duplicates of himself which will allow gamers to get through tricky puzzles. It’s a really cool game mechanic which is fun once you get the hang of it.
Also announced, DC Direct will release some sweet Ratchet and Clank action figures in December. The only problem is that we’ll all have to wait ’til the fall for the game, and until December for wave 1 of the action figures. Still, we DID get Mac n Cheese.
