     December 11, 2013

Tuesday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief rundown:

  • The new ABC drama series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fell to a new series low last night, notching a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and 5.92 million viewers for a drop of over half a ratings point from its most recent episode’s 2.6 rating.  Read Evan’s recap here.
  • Alternatively, ABC’s new comedies saw a rise in viewership with The Goldbergs rising 21% from last week’s 1.4 rating to a 1.7 rating and 4.85 million viewers, while Trophy Wife was up 9% from last week’s 1.1 rating to a 1.2 rating and 3.49 million viewers.
  • CBS’ procedural NCIS notched a 2.8 rating and 18.84 million viewers, down 7% from its last episode’s 3.0 rating.  NCIS: Los Angeles was even with a 2.4 rating and 14.71 million viewers, and the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show dropped 6% from last year to a 3.4 rating and 9.71 million viewers.
  • Finally, NBC’s Chicago Fire garnered a 2.2 rating and 9.27 million viewers, dropping 4% from last week.

At this point, I’m honestly curious whether ABC will renew AoS after the end of the first season, or will they double down, get a whole new writing staff, and try again for season 2? The show wants to be good, it really does!

    • Murdoch

I’ve heard that this whole show is also supposed to be a billboard for Disney’s upcoming MARVEL movies, so clearly, ratings aren’t the ONLY things to consider.

Comments on Collider are another guage. heh

    • Strong Enough

“The show wants to be good, it really does!”

How do you know? Maybe they think they’re already good?

joss needs to get more involved… but he’s busy.

    • Murdoch

The pilot was all Joss, and it was the weakest first ep for the Whedonverse i’ve ever seen (not familiar with Dollhouse, though).

it’s ironic that marvel know how to do movies and not tv and DC are the opposite(loving arrow, getting bored with shield)and they are good at animated movies were marvel sucks!

    • LEM

Yeah and DC also wins in the animated films too.

  • jonah

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. so boring and made for kids!!

    • LEM

      Or the kid in you.

      • ʝoe ßloggs

Or the kid next to you.
        It’s a stretch…but hey I had to go there. :P

  • unsocial

Agents of Shield’s time has come. Like Low Winter Sun or Ironside before it the show has become a breeding ground for juvenille dialogue and banal plotting. It is beyond saving and must be allowed to die.

  • LEM

Every week is a new low for AoS.

      In the comment section…

      • LEM

The comments are more entertaining than the show.
