Wednesday TV Ratings: MODERN FAMILY Hits Season Low, SUBURGATORY Rises, NASHVILLE Notches Series Low

Wednesday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • Modern Family took a dive last night, landing a season-low 3.8 rating and 10.14 million viewers.  That’s a drop of 10% from its last original episode’s 4.2 rating, but it still managed to score the second-highest rating of the night.
  • ABC’s whip-smart comedy Suburgatory, on the other hand, saw a decent rise of 17% from last week’s 1.8 rating, garnering a 2.1 rating and 5.88 million viewers.
  • Bringing things back down, though, was Nashville, which scored a 1.7 rating and 5.25 million viewers for a series low.  That’s down 11% from its last new episode’s 1.9 rating.

ABC

  • nashville-ive-been-down-that-road-beforeA new episode of The Middle scored a 2.3 rating and 8.41 million viewers, dropping 8% from its last new episode’s 2.5 rating.
  • New comedy series The Neighbors notched a 1.8 rating and 6.33 million viewers.  That’s a rise of 13% from last week’s 1.6 rating.
  • Wednesday night favorite Modern Family notched a season-low 3.8 rating and 10.14 million viewers, dropping 10% from its last new episode’s 4.2 rating.
  • Suburgatory garnered a 2.1 rating and 5.88 million viewers, rising 17% from last week’s 1.8 rating.
  • Nashville, meanwhile, hit a series-low 1.7 rating and 5.25 million viewers.  That’s a drop of 11% from its last original episode’s 1.9 rating.

CBS

  • Over at CBS, Criminal Minds scored a 2.7 rating and 11.83 million viewers.  That’s down 14% from its last new episode’s 3.1 rating.
  • CSI was also down, notching a 2.4 rating and 10.93 million viewers for a drop of 8% from its last new episode’s 2.6 rating.

NBC

  • NBC continues to dive, as Whitney earned a 1.2 rating and 3.53 million viewers, dropping 8% from last week’s 1.3 rating.
  • Guys with Kids was up 9% from last week’s 1.1 rating, scoring a 1.2 rating and 3.19 million viewers.
  • Law & Order: SVU hit a 1.5 rating and 5.19 million viewers, dropping 12% from last week’s 1.7 rating.
  • Also down was Chicago Fire, which garnered a 1.8 rating and 6.52 million viewers.  That’s a drop of 14% from last week’s 2.1 rating.

The CW

  • Arrow notched a 1.0 rating and 2.95 million viewers, which is up 11% from last week’s 0.9 rating.
  • Supernatural garnered a 0.9 rating and 2.22 million viewers, which is even with last week’s numbers.

    Why do they still report tv ratings so hard. They need to come up with a way to track DVR bc that is the way people watch tv. They cancelled Heroes for poor ratings when it was the most DVRd and Downloaded show in the world. SMH.

    They do track DVR usage. I believe it is referred to time shifted viewing.

    I think the official numbers come out as three numbers.

    1. The old school rating
    2. The old school rating + anyone who watched it within 24hrs (or same day, not sure)
    3. Total viewership
