Tuesday TV Ratings: NEW GIRL Down, GO ON, THE NEW NORMAL, and SMASH Hit Series Lows

Tuesday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • Last night’s New Girl—which seems to be handling the Nick/Jess developments excellently—hit a 2.2 rating and 4.2 million viewers, which is down 4% from its last original episode’s 2.3 rating.
  • All of NBC’s programming was down, with Go On earning a series low 1.0 rating and 2.86 million viewers.  That’s a 9% drop from its last original episode’s 1.1 rating.
  • The New Normal also scored a series low with a 0.7 rating and 2.1 million viewers, down a whopping 22% from its last new episode’s 0.9 rating.
  • The much-maligned Smash matched its series low with a 0.8 rating and 2.65 million viewers, dropping 11% from last week’s 0.9 rating.

NBC

  • go-on-go-for-the-gold-watchNBC’s new comedy Go On—which had been performing quite well before the winter hiatus—notched a series low 1.0 rating and 2.86 million viewers, dropping 9% from its last new episode’s 1.1 rating.
  • The New Normal garnered a 0.7 rating and 2.1 million viewers for a new series low, dropping 22% from its last new episode’s 0.9 rating
  • The drama series Smash also matched its series low, scoring a 0.8 rating and 2.65 million viewers for a drop of 11% from last week’s 0.9 rating.

CBS

  • NCIS was the number one program of the night in both ratings and total viewers, hitting a 3.1 rating and 19.09 million viewers.  That’s down 9% from its last new episode’s 3.4 rating.
  • The number two program of the night, fittingly, was NCIS: Los Angeles which garnered a 2.8 rating and 16.59 million viewers, matching its most recent performance.
  • The new drama series Golden Boy hit a 1.7 rating and 9.26 million viewers for a rise of 13% from last week’s 1.5 rating.

ABC

  • ABC’s Body of Proof hit a season high with a 1.5 rating and 8.25 million viewers, which is up 25% from last week’s 1.2 rating.

FOX

  • A swell episode of New Girl scored a 2.2 rating and 4.2 million viewers, dropping 4% from its last new episode’s 2.3 rating.
  • The Mindy Project, meanwhile, was even with its last new episode’s 1.7 rating and scored 3.16 million viewers.
