Wednesday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • The NBC drama Revolution notched a series low in its season two premiere, hitting a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6.8 million viewers in its new timeslot.  That’s a steep drop from last year’s series premiere 4.1 rating, and down two tenths from the season one finale’s 2.0 rating.
  • Modern Family was also down in its return, as its one-hour premiere episode garnered a 4.1 rating and 11.45 million viewers for a drop of 25% from last year’s 5.5 premiere rating.  Nevertheless, it still stood as Wednesday’s highest-rated and most-watched program.
  • On the flipside, the stakes-raising premiere of Law & Order: SVU scored a 2.7 rating and 9.5 million viewers, rising 30% from last year’s 2.1 premiere rating and marking the show’s best performance since 2011.
