We’ve got a couple of casting stories to share this evening. First up, Ray Liotta is the latest actor to join the human cast of The Muppets sequel. Ricky Gervais is set as the lead with Ty Burrell and Tina Fey poised to co-star, and Variety now reports that Liotta is joining the sequel in an unspecified role. This isn’t Liotta’s first time with The Muppets, as he also appeared in 1999’s Muppets from Space. The Europe-set film will be directed by James Bobin and production is scheduled to begin in London this month.
Hit the jump for casting news concerning the horror-comedy Kitchen Sink.
Additionally, Nicholas Braun (Red State, Perks of Being a Wallflower) and Sundance 2013 breakout Mackenzie Davis are in talks to join director Robbie Pickering’s (Natural Selection) horror-comedy Kitchen Sink. THR reports that the film is said to be in the vein of Zombieland and centers on “a pair of teens who form an unlikely alliance with vampires and zombies in order to take on an army of invading aliens.” Production is scheduled to get underway this summer with a script by Oren Uziel. Davis has gained considerable notice this week at Sundance for her scene-stealing work in director Drake Doremus’ (Like Crazy) devastating family drama Breathe In, and I’m really looking forward to seeing more from the young actress.
