Opening today, in limited release, is director Zak Penn’s improvisational comedy “The Grand.” The film is in the tradition of “Best in Show” and “This is Spinal Tap,” except it's set in the world of professional poker and it follows six players who reach the final table of the world’s second most famous high stakes tournament, the Grand Championship of Poker. The film is loaded with great actors like Woody Harrelson, David Cross, Dennis Farina, Cheryl Hines, Richard Kind, Chris Parnell, Ray Romano, and Zak even got director Werner Herzog and sitcom vet Gabe Kaplan (“Welcome Back Kotter”) to be in it. When you watch the film, I promise you’ll laugh when you see Werner playing "The German."

Anyway, I recently interviewed Ray Romano and Cheryl Hines and it’s below. During the interview the two of them were very funny and they demonstrated why they’re so good at their craft. And of course I asked Cheryl about Curb Your Enthusiasm and Ray about Ice Age 3.

Finally, here are some links to things you may have missed. Click here to watch some movie clips from “The Grand,” click here for the video interview with director Zak Penn, and click here for the video interview with Woody Harrelson and Chris Parnell. And with that…here’s Ray and Cheryl.

Ray Romano and Cheryl Hines

  • Unicorn talk (has to do with the t-shirt I was wearing)

  • How much fun did they have making The Grand

  • How much was the character their own and what Zak created

  • I ask Cheryl since she’s on Curb Your Enthusiasm if this film was easy

  • I ask about the next season of Curb

  • Ray talks about Ice Age 3 and how it’s 3D
