Summit has debuted the first trailer for Red, an adaptation of the Warren Ellis comic which tells the story of a former black-ops CIA agent currently targeted by a hi-tech assassin. The film is toplined by an all-star cast of Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker, Morgan Freeman, and John Malkovich. Hit the jump for the trailer.
The trailer is all sorts of fun, in a Kick-Ass kind of way. Looking over director Robert Schwentke’s resume: Flightplan, The Time Traveller’s Wife… hmm. I am now even more intrigued.
Here’s a plot synopsis:
Red is the story of Frank Moses (Willis), a former black-ops CIA agent, who is now living a quiet life. That is until the day a hi-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him. With his identity compromised and the life of the woman he cares for, Sarah (Mary-Louise Parker), endangered, Frank reassembles his old team (Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren) in a last ditch effort to survive. Also in the cast are Karl Urban, Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfuss, Ernest Borgnine, Julian McMahon, James Remar and Rebecca Pidgeon.

I have to say that now I'm sold.
looks awesome. on paper i might have thought this cast sounded too forced, but it looks like they've all gotten interesting parts to play.
was it me or was there a lack of hi tech assassins showing up
it was all about him and his ex cia family and friends
:-O
Well THAT doesnt look like a Frank Miller/Robert Rodrigues/Sin City type film with RED camera filters that i was expecting!
I haven't read RED comics, but from the comic images shown that's what i had in my minds eye, and i was Psyched for it! Extremely dissapointed!!! False advertising!
That said, as an entertaining film it looks good. I just wish i hadn't seen the comic panels.
The comic is good, but it could seriously use a bit more humor seeing as how it's kinda cheesy(but badass). So i'm happy that they have adapted it in a more comedic way, I just hope the action sequences delivers too.
