A Spanish-language Regression trailer has gone online, and it provides a first look at Alejandro Amenábar's upcoming thriller.  The movie takes place in Minnesota in 1990, and stars Ethan Hawke as a detective who investigates the case of a young woman (Emma Watson) who accuses her father (David Dencik) of an “unspeakable crime”.  The investigation eventually leads to uncovering a “horrifying nationwide mystery.”

While the synopsis made the story sound like something rooted in reality, this trailer shows that the film has more of a stylized bent with people in black, hooded robes, eerie flashlights, and even a crucifix metronome.  None of these things are bad, especially with the way Amenábar has shot it, it's unexpected.  It's also exciting.

Check out the trailer and poster below [via El Septimo Arte].  Hopefully we'll get a release date and English-language trailer soon.

Here's the official synopsis for Regression:

When John unexpectedly and without recollection admits guilt, renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him relive his memories and what they discover unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery.
