The Snow White war is in full force, people. After Universal moved up the release date of Snow White and the Huntsman to June 1st, 2012 in order to rival Relativity’s Untitled Snow White Project release date later that month, Relativity stepped up and bumped their project all the way up to March 16th, 2012. Mind you, neither of these projects have started filming yet. With a release date now less than a year away, director Tarsem Singh’s take on the classic tale for Relativity is quickly filling out the rest of its cast.
In addition to the already announced Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, Julia Roberts and Nathan Lane, Mark Povinelli (Water for Elephants), Jordan Prentice (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle), Danny Woodburn (Watchmen), Sebastian Saraceno (Bedtime Stories), Ronald Lee Clark (Epic Movie), Martin Klebba (Hancock) and Joey Gnoffo (Pirates of the Caribbean series) are now set to play the Seven Dwarfs. Additionally, Mare Winningham (Brothers) will play Baker Margaret and Michael Lerner (Elf) is set as Baron. Collins plays Snow White, Hammer plays the Prince, Roberts is the evil Queen and Nathan Lane is the Queen’s servant. For an in-depth, and decidedly kick-ass, assessment of the release date war between both films, be sure to read Brendan’s feature. Hit the jump to read the full press release.
