“Have you ever wanted to disappear?” That’s what Lone Shark Games, Wired Magazine, and Universal Pictures want to know in their latest publicity stunt to promote the upcoming picture Repo Men, a sci-fi action flick about a man on the run from creditors aiming to repossess his heart. The film stars Liev Schreiber, Jude Law, and Forest Whitaker and opens April 2nd. More details on the contest and how you can enter to win after the jump.
The contest begins in late February and ends in late March. The contest’s sponsors will provide accepted applicants with the technology and funds needed to evade captors who will use “any means allowed in the rules to try and figure out where [they] are.”
Those chosen will receive $25,000 to start, and an additional $75,000 if they make it the entire month without getting caught. Applicants must submit an application, consent to a background check, and provide 3 recently taken pictures and 2 minutes of video footage to runners@wired.com by midnight PST February 10, 2010. Specific rules and legal information are available on the application.
I’d do it myself if I didn’t have a life to attend to. Universal and Wired are asking quite a lot for people to leave their jobs and loved ones for a month at the drop of a hat, and the pay really isn’t that great, but this is definitely an unparalleled life experience for those who have the time/flexibility.
