Last week we got the first poster for The Revenant and while the tagline was a little weak (don't go to the dictionary for rhetorical purposes), the image was stunning, which is what you expect when your cinematographer is Emmanuel Lubezki, who recently won Oscars for Gravity and Birdman.

However, while Lubezki might sell cinephiles on the movie, his name isn’t enough to get the average moviegoer. For that, you need stars, and so 20th Century Fox has released two more posters that highlight leads Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. If their grizzled visages don’t make you want to see this movie, well then that’s understandable. Movie stars don’t sell movies that well any more, and if you don’t believe me, you don’t need to look any further than Sandra Bullock or Bradley Cooper, whose movies Our Brand Is Crisis and Burnt, respectively, tanked this weekend. It’s not enough to get the name on the marquee, and I’m very curious to see if Revenant has all the elements needed to get folks to see a revenge thriller set on the 19th century frontier.

Check out the new The Revenant posters below. The film also stars Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter, and opens in limited release on December 25th before going wide on January 8, 2016.
