This year’s San Diego Comic-Con was filled with memorable moments, but one of the best had to be a video the team behind Rick and Morty unveiled to the public at an event for the swell animated Adult Swim series. The show is the brainchild of Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, revolving around a genius scientist grandpa named Rick and his naïve grandson Morty (loosely based on the Doc/Marty McFly dynamic). It’s one of the best shows on television, filled to the brim with weird sci-fi and hilariously cynical characters and storylines, but one wouldn’t necessarily think it would be a good fit for courtroom drama. And one would be wrong.

At that Comic-Con event, the team unveiled a silly video that they put together in which Roiland reads, word-for-word, an outrageous and 100% real court transcript in the voices of Rick and Morty. The transcript comes from a court proceeding in Georgia earlier this year, and it is hilariously ridiculous and tremendously profane.

Seriously, and I don’t say this lightly, this video literally had me in tears from laughing so much. This official version is, unfortunately, censored, but I think it still works almost as well. You get the point, and Roiland’s voices are pitch perfect for the dynamic between this DGAF defendant and perturbed judge.

So take a look at the video below, and if you’re a Rick and Morty fan and missed my interview with Harmon and Roiland about Season 2 and beyond, click here. Season 3 is currently in production and the show returns to Adult Swim…sometime in the future.
