Pre-production on Riddick churns on and Vin Diesel has bestowed his Facebook fans with a new piece of concept art. I hope folks don’t consider this to be a spoiler because if you didn’t think that Riddick could get blood splattered on his face, then you probably aren’t familiar with the Riddick films. However, if it’s chocolate getting splattered on his face, then I have no idea what to expect from this sequel.
Diesel also told fans that shooting will begin in Canada, a country that also played host to shooting on The Chronicles of Riddick. Let’s hope the third film in the franchise plays better (going for an R-rating is a push in the right direction). Hit the jump to check out the concept art and a statement from Diesel on the film.

And here’s his latest update on Riddick:
While I was working on character, the Director and his team of artists have been creating the world and style of this picture. We all know how much I enjoy concept art and storyboards, haha, I am like a kid in a candy shop.
Seeing the early stage of CGI is always fascinating to me, it is a element that usually comes together long after the filming process, so you look forward to seeing it fully realized.
First stop for the Riddick production is Canada, which is where we shot a large part of Chronicles…
P.s. I am grateful to have Universal in such support of this complex character’s journey… not many studios would back an “R” rating. Very cool.

I thought that Pitchblack was pretty good, but I think Chronicles of Riddick was even better. If you have not seen Dark Fury, I recommend that you do.

Same here,I preferred CoR to Pitch Black…though I love both movies.I think CoR gave weight to the Riddick universe and his motives.Sure, some moments could have been acted better and some scenes felt unnecessary, but it all gelled well by the end and made a better movie than the first.
