The day you’ve all been waiting for is here: The Ridiculous 6 trailer has arrived! Yes, Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for Adam Sandler’s upcoming Western comedy, which marks the first movie in a four-picture deal that the comedian struck with the streaming service to produce original content. As a follow-up to Beasts of No Nation, Netflix’s first original film, this could not be further away in terms of tone, talent…pretty much everything. As the title suggests, the film is a twist on The Magnificent Seven and stars Sandler as Tommy “White Knife” Stockburn, a man who goes on an adventure-filled journey across the Old West with his five brothers when their long-lost outlaw father returns.

Unsurprisingly, there’s nary a laugh to be found in this here trailer. Sandler’s been on a mean streak of misses for the past few years, and it doesn’t appear that The Ridiculous 6 will be his triumphant return to comedy gold. Nevertheless, there’s certainly an audience for these kinds of films and Sandler’s deal with Netflix was insanely smart—I imagine this and Sandler’s other pictures will do incredibly well as the sort of “I don’t have to leave my house and this seems fine” choice for folks browsing Netflix.

You’re probably aware that the film drummed up considerable controversy during production when a number of Native American actors walked off set, complaining about racially insensitive material. Indeed, only a couple of Native American performers appear in this first trailer, and I’m curious to see if they worked around said material in post-production or if the film just forged ahead as planned.

Check out the trailer for yourself below. Directed by Frank Coraci (Click), the film also stars Terry Crews, Jorge Garcia, Taylor Lautner, Rob Schneider, Luke Wilson, and Harvey Keitel and will be available to stream on Netflix starting December 11th.
