Comic-Con: Watch Robert Downey Jr.’s Fantastic Entrance at the IRON MAN 3 Panel; Plus Footage from Marvel’s Entire Panel

     July 16, 2012

Saturday was a pretty great day in Hall H at Comic-Con 2012.  We got Django Unchained, Pacific Rim, The Hobbit, Godzilla, Man of Steel, and more.  But for the last panel of the day, Marvel reminded convention goers that Hall H is undeniably their house.  Matt and I already brought you our recaps of the “upcoming projects” portion of the panel (which includes Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy) as well as the Iron Man 3 part, but now those of you not lucky enough to attend can take a gander at one of the more entertaining events of the whole Con.

True to form, Robert Downey Jr. entered Hall H from the back of the room with Luther Vandross pumping from the speakers and an Iron Man glove on his hand.  The crowd went wild, and Marvel has now released the video online for all to see along with excerpts of footage from their entire panel, including Edgar Wright talking Ant-Man.  Hit the jump to take a look, and catch up on all of our Comic-Con 2012 coverage here and here.

Watch RDJ’s entrance below, followed by footage from the entire Marvel panel which includes Ant-Man talk and the cast/director of Iron Man 3.

When I read the title I thought you meant they were showing the Ant-Man test footage, then when you wrote “footage from the entire panel” I was thinking they were going to show, well, the entire panel. The player goes all whacky on me halfway through as well… but RDJ’s entrance was fun to watch

I will NEVER understand why they don’t just show the film footage at these events. Why wouldn’t u want early marketing buzz for your movie? It just seems like u would want as many people to see it as possible. Not everyone can go to Comic Con to see this stuff. Is it just to make the nerds at these things feel more important cause they spent a ton of money and flew to Cali? I’ll never understand it. Just seems like they waist the hype of Comic Con to reach a wider audience than just a dude dressed as Superman and his buddy in the random Anime costume from some shit show that only 12 geeks from Pittsburgh know about. Well besides all of Japan that is.

Yes, my fellow captain! Only the people that went to comic con gets to see such footage because they paid a lot of money to attend it! I know you would like to see it, but if they put it online for everyone, then people who attended the conference would feel robbed and would be less likely to go to a conference in the future! The companies will still get “marketing” when they officially release trailers and such. To the obvious, and beyond. Cpt. Obvious signing out!

Looks like Favreau just couldn’t stay away from those donuts.

Hahaha for a second there it felt like I was watching a live stream of the stark expo. Downey Jr. Makes every character extremely personal, and he is without a doubt an extremely gifted actor.

You mean Tony Stark’s Fantastic Entrance at the IRON MAN 3 Panel?

    • Andres

Yep, that’s exactly what I was talking about.

  • Bob

Thought the Iron Man 3 and Ant-Man footage was gonna be here -_-

Still, Downey Jr is the best.
