Millions of tweenage girls just had their Google Alerts explode at the news that Robert Pattinson is considering starring in the upcoming film “Memoirs”. Pattinson is in early talks to star in the film which Allen Coulter is in negotiations to direct. These tweenage girls are no doubt already huge fans of Coulter from his work on “The Sopranos”.
“Memoirs,” based on an original screenplay by Will Fetters that will be rewritten by Jenny Lumet, who penned “Rachel Getting Married,” tells of two lovers whose newfound relationship is threatened as they struggle to deal with family tragedies. The role may require Pattinson to be really, really good looking but in a dark and brooding manner that hints at an inner pathos and pain that can only be healed by the love of pure and chaste woman who has no thoughts or feelings of her own. Yep, that’s a functional relationship, alright.
Pattinson is currently reprising his role as Edward Cullen for the “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon” or as Summit Pictures’ marketing division would like us to refer to it, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Please give us your money before this fad passes)”. I would assume that the smarter move for Pattinson would be to go in the exact opposite direction and play a creepy stalker or Mormon fundamentalist. Wait, still the same role. I guess he’ll never get away from playing Edward. That’s a shame.
