Today is June 2, 2016 and it’s another Collider Jedi Council hosted by Kristian Harloff, with Mark Ellis, John Campea and John Rocha!
Trouble for Rogue One?
The biggest topic this week - and coming from so many rumors out of left field - is the report from THR stating that Rogue One is going back for some reshoots. The main reason most sites give is to match the "tone" set in Force Awakens, with Rogue One resembling a "war movie." The Council breaks this down, the positives, the negatives, and whether or not the media is creating a story out of nothing.
Donnie Yen Talks Rogue One Reshoots
With the Rogue One news that there will be some re-shoots, high-profile Hong Kong star Donnie Yen recently revealed that his work will continue on Rogue One, naturally; seeing as the re-shoots have now been confirmed. The Council talk a bit about what Yen's character might have to do in regards to the reshoots.
Lawrence Kasdan Confirms Young Han Solo Production Start
In an interview with Lawrence Kasdan, the prolific screenwriter confirmed he is still "peripherally" involved with Episodes VIII and IX, while also revealing that the Young Han Solo movie he is writing with his son will begin principle photography in January of next year. The Council talk a bit about the start date and what it might mean knowing that Kasdan is still involved somewhat in the Force Awakens sequels.
Daisy Ridley Talks Han Solo Death
Daisy Ridley recently spoke with The Big Issue Magazine about her Studio Ghibli film where she provides the voice of the main character Taeko and during the interview she talked about why she thinks audiences form such a strong emotional connection with fantasy type films - which conveniently led to the death of Han Solo and why it had such a profound impact on Star Wars fans. The Council weigh in with their own opinions on why losing Han was so impactful in the Star Wars Universe.
Warwick Davis Talks Returning as an Ewok
Warwick Davis, the actor known for his roles as Willow in Willow, Professor Flitwick in Harry Potter, and a rather warped version of himself in BBC’s Life’s Too Short, probably has played more different characters in films than any actor has in an entire career. And with Star Wars: Episode VIII shooting at Pinewood Studios outside London, he was asked if he could return as an Ewok should the situation call for it. Warwick said he isn't sure and wouldn't be too happy to jump into another hot and sweaty "furry" costume.
Star Wars and Disney Announce Authentic Star Wars Props Replicas
And in some of the more awesome news of the day, Star Wars and Disney announced the most realistic prop replicas to date. Star Wars Collectibles: Ultimate Studio Edition props are created in Pinewood Studio's Propshop using "digital data collected during filming." Eight props will be available initially—Darth Vader's melted helmet, the bloodied FN-22187 stormtrooper helmet, Kylo Ren's helmet, Poe Dameron's X-Wing helmet, Chewbacca's bowcaster, Kylo Ren's lightsaber hilt, Rey's lightsaber hilt, and Rey's staff.
What’s the Deal with Canon?
Here now is the segment called What’s the Deal with Canon – a discussion on everything in the world of canon that isn’t one of the movies be it Episodes or Star Wars’ Stories. This time, the Council looks at the tiny bit of news coming out of Star Wars Celebration Europe that says Rebels Season 3, episodes 1, 2 and 3 will debut at the convention!
