Michael Nyqvist (the Swedish version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is rumored to be in talks to play the villain in Brad Bird’s upcoming untitled Mission: Impossible reboot. According to What’s Playing, the character is “very charming, but calculating bad guy. Not your typical spy-film villain.” Whoever gets the gig will have a tough act to follow since Philip Seymour Hoffman did an outstanding job as the villain in Mission: Impossible III.
Tom Cruise is returning as IMF agent Ethan Hunt and will be teaming with newcomer Jeremy Renner who’s character may get the reins to the franchise after this new mission. Other new faces include Paula Patton (Precious) and Vladimir Mashkov (Behind Enemy Lines). Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg are reprising their roles as Luther Stickell and Benji Dunn, respectively. What’s Playing adds that the production is looking for another name star to play Hunt’s boss, following in the footsteps of Jon Voight, Anthony Hopkins, and Lawrence Fishburne. Shooting begins in Decemeber with the film targeted for a December 16, 2011 release date.

Its true. In a interview with a swedish new paper Michael Nyqvist sad that they have start shooting in Prague this week. Further he and Tom Crusie will have a fight scene that will take between 3 to 4 weeks to shoot.
No he didn’t say that, that was something the paper assumed, they’re actually in preproduction. They were locationscouting like a week ago.
And btw, this is just terrible news. Nyqvist is without a doubt one of swedens worst actors. His acting is stiff, he has no charisma or screenpresence. Seriously, one of the most boring actors I’ve ever seen.
He sad it! read the article, it in swedish btw. http://www.aftonbladet.se/nojesbladet/film/article7841342.ab
Can agree with you on the other points.
Read the article again, HE doesn’t say it anywhere. It’s something that Aftonbladet is assuming. If you read his quotes you can clearly see that that they’re still in preproduction, seeing as he is still training for the role.
I am pretty excited to see this film! I think he is one of Sweden’s best, after all he has won a best actor guldbagge award and been nominated more than once
Sorry, but I don’t really consider the guldbagge awards as any seal of quality, with all the shit that gets nominated and wins there.
you can say that about any awards, they don’t get it wrong all the time, some films and actors are very worthy. Micke being a bad actor doesn’t explain how popular he has become over the years (in Sweden and now internationally)
I would say he has an understated acting style. I can’t keep my eyes off of him either.
