Ryan Reynolds is a busy man — his schedule is currently mapped out clear into 2014. In the next few years, Reynolds will portray characters in three comic book adaptations (Green Lantern, R.I.P.D. and Deadpool) and voice a character in the DreamWorks Animation flick The Croods. DreamWorks must have liked working with Reynolds as Variety reports the studio is in final talks with the Green Lantern star to voice Turbo, the world’s fastest snail.
David Soren (Merry Madagascar) will direct from a script he co-wrote with Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After). Turbo is schedule for release on June 7, 2013. Hit the jump for the full synopsis for Turbo.
DreamWorks recently announced release dates and synopses for their upcoming pictures through 2014, including Turbo:
Turbo tells the story of an ordinary garden snail with an impossible dream: to become the fastest snail in the world. When a freak accident gives him extraordinary speed, Turbo sets out to try to make this dream come true.
Reynolds was recently named CinemaCon’s Male Star of the Year, so it’s no surprise that studios are trying to attach him to any and every project they can. Not one to shy away from independent films, Reynolds has recently been Buried alive and played an imaginary hero in Paper Man. Of course, Reynolds will be working with much more enviable budgets in the upcoming Green Lantern and eventual Deadpool movies. With his varied repertoire of characters, is a talking snail really all that much of a stretch?
