Just when you thought the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained couldn’t get any cooler/weirder, Borat himself is headed to QT’s Western. Sacha Baron Cohen is in final negotiations to join the cast, which stars Jamie Foxx as a freed slave who teams up with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) to rescue his wife (Kerry Washington) from an evil plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). Variety reports that Cohen will play the small but integral role of Scotty, a gambler who buys Washington as a female companion. The cast for the film also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kurt Russell, Don Johnson, and Anthony LaPaglia.
Cohen will next be seen in Martin Scorsese’s 3D family film Hugo which opens Thanksgiving, followed by his next character-centric pic The Dictator next May. Django Unchained is set for release on December 25th, 2012.
So JGL is confirmed?
He is the look-alike of Freddy
From the cast alone, this looks like it will make a billion dollars!
Man, I feel like a woman!
The one thing that’s sort of disappointing is the apparent dearth of women in this script, based on the casting news (that said, I’m fairly certain Kerry Washington’s role will ultimately be far from this passive damsel-in-distress the set-up suggests – and if anyone confirms or denies this through having read the script, that person is an ass; who would deprive her- or himself of watching a new Tarantino movie with fresh eyes?).
I read the script because I thought huge chunks/plot points/characters of “Inglorious Basterds” were awful and I wasnt interested in wasting my money watching Tarantino’s next if he was going to end up compromising his own film again. Reading the script made me hugely interested in the film and I dont consider that to have ruined anything, if at all it has confirmed to me that he is still a filmmaker I should pay to see the movies of.
Its more of the fact that I wouldnt have seen the film until it ended up on Tv 6 months later if it hadnt been for reading the script, and having read it im enthusiastic about seeing it, even more so after seeing the casting news.
Sacha Baron Cohen in a “small, but integral role” in the new Tarantino movie. If anyone ever had legitimate cause to crap their pants, this would be it. I haven’t read past page 25 of the script, simply because I don’t want to ruin it for myself, but if you’ll remember, Christopher Walken played a “small, but integral role” in Pulp Fiction. And we’re still referencing it. This is just fantastic.
AWESOME.
