Back in March, we reported that Sam Worthington was signed on to star in the adaptation of the popular British comic-book series Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future. Today, Deadline confirms the story (without giving any credit to Pajiba, who broke the news months ago). For those unfamiliar with the property, Dan Dare has been around since 1950 and is described as a kind of British Buck Rogers. Created by Frank Hampson, Dare is one of the most successful comics in UK history. I wonder if Buck Rogers is as unknown to British audiences as Dan Dare is unknown to us.
Hit the jump for a list of Worthington’s other projects.
Worthington is also attached to:
And last month was offered roles in McG’s This Means War and the heist-thriller Man on a Ledge. He’ll next be seen in the thrillers The Debt and The Fields.

Buck Rogers is pretty well known here in Britain, particularly to the Star Wars generation. There was a British band called Feeder who had a single called 'Buck Rogers' about 10 years ago, it was probably their most well known hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TataYXStVr8
I can confirm that most UK geeks in their late-twenties up will have seen or been aware of the TV show in their youth. I even had a Buck Rogers duvet cover as a kid!
Well, apparently he's not doing “This Means War” (Tom Hardy is), and LAT has some very interesting news on “Man on a Ledge”: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/movies/2010/07/…
I quite like this new development.
