Sam Worthington Offered Role opposite Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon in McG’s THIS MEANS WAR; May also Star in MAN ON A LEDGE

Sam Worthington has been offered one of the lead roles in McG’s upcoming action/romantic comedy This Means War.  According to Vulture, the film is “about two best friends/veteran spies (played by Chris Pine and potentially Worthington) who wage black-ops warfare on each other when they both fall for the same girl (played by Reese Witherspoon).”  As is the case when any two spies fight over a woman, I think it’s safe to assume that a South American dictator will inadvertently get assassinated.  That’s just how those things happen.

Vulture also says that Worthington’s is also considering the lead role in Summit Entertainment’s Man on a Ledge, which is about “an ex-cop threatening to jump to his death from a Manhattan hotel rooftop; unbeknownst to the police psychologists brought in to talk him down, the ‘suicide attempt’ is a cover for the biggest diamond heist ever attempted.”  Oldest trick in the book.  Worthington’s already attached to Clash of the Titans 2, Avatar 2, Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future, and Quatermain.

There are only so many ways you could describe a bad idea. Making this movie would be one of them.
