Samuel L. Jackson Talks CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, Nick Fury Kicking Ass, ROBOCOP, Matthew Vaughn’s THE SECRET SERVICE, and More

     April 4, 2014

With directors Joe and Anthony Russo‘s Marvel sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier opening in North America this weekend, every day this week I’ve been posting a new video interview for the film.  In the fantastic sequel, we find Captain America (Chris Evans) joining forces with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the Falcon (Anthony Mackie) to expose a conspiracy, fight off professional assassins, and battle a new enemy, the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).  Loaded with amazing action, a fantastic script, and great character moments, Captain America: The Winter Solider is going to be a huge hit with Marvel fans and regular moviegoers alike.  The film also stars Cobie Smulders, Anthony Mackie, Georges St-Pierre, Frank Grillo, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp, Maximiliano Hernández, Robert Redford, and Samuel L. Jackson.  For more on the movie, here’s Matt’s review and all our previous coverage.

During my exclusive video interview with Jackson he talked about his reaction to The Winter Solider script, finally getting a kick ass action scene for Nick Fury, if he read the reviews after the first press screening, Avengers: Age of Ultron, his role in the RoboCop remake, Matthew Vaughn’s The Secret Service, and more.  Hit the jump to watch.

A: Funny that the mainstream posters are trying to look like Mondo prints.

B: The link to the X-Men posters is broken in both locations. It just sends you back to the home page.

I like the idea of Samuel L’s character as a “Greek chorus” to Robocop.

I don’t like Jackson as Nick Fury. He’s so imposing on each scene and he hasn’t earned any reverence. It’s just assumed.

Sam seems a little grumpy here. Guess those endless press junkets can get tiresome after so many hours.

      ? What were you watching?

I don’t know, he just seemed less than his usual jovial self. Maybe he was just tired.
