Now playing in theaters is Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Based on the novel of the same name by Ransom Riggs, the film stars Asa Butterfield as a young boy who stumbles upon a secret refuge for supernaturally gifted youngsters, headed up by the mysterious Miss Peregrine (Eva Green) only to learn that the children are in danger from ever-growing malevolent forces. The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ella Purnell, Judi Dench, Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Kim Dickens, and Rupert Everett and was scripted by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class). As a fan of Burton’s work, I’m happy to report the film is a lot of fun. It’s also one of those times where the material and director are perfectly suited for one another. Definitely recommended.
At the New York City press day, I sat down with Samuel L. Jackson for an exclusive interview. He talked about the DC/Marvel rivalry, his collection of Asian films, if he wants to direct, the look of his character and collaborating with Tim Burton, if Nick Fury will be part of Avengers: Infinity War, how much Agent Augustus Gibbons will be in xXx 3, and more. Check out what he had to say in the video above.
