A few days ago at WonderCon, Warner Bros. brought San Andreas director Brad Peyton and cast members Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario to present some footage from the movie to attendees. Shortly before the panel, I spoke to them backstage and asked what I felt was the most important question of the day: Why wasn’t San Andreas called The Rock vs. The Earthquake?

Here’s what they had to say:

If you’ve yet to see any of the trailers, Dwayne Johnson stars as a helicopter rescue pilot who must work together with his ex-wife (Carla Gugino) to save their daughter (Alexandra Daddario) after a massive Earthquake strikes California. The film also stars Archie PanjabiIoan GruffuddWill Yun LeeColton Haynes, and Kylie Minogue.

I’m a fan of Roland Emmerich disaster pics, and really hope San Andreas is in the same vein. We’ll know next month when San Andreas opens May 29, 2015.

For more on San Andreas, here's Tommy's recap of the WonderCon panel.
