Just after Cate Blanchett was reported as being in negotiations to play the evil step-mother in Disney’s Untitled Cinderella Story, we now have a trio of international actresses being eyed for the lead role. The contenders for the coveted glass slipper are the Irish-born Saoirse Ronan (Hanna), Britain’s Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers) and Swedish Alicia Vikander (A Royal Affair). Originally pitched by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada), Disney picked up the project for a substantial sum in 2010. Chris Weitz (About a Boy) wrote the script and Simon Kinberg (X-Men) will produce. Hit the jump for more.
Variety reports that 
Ronan, Wilde and Vikander are all scheduled to test for director Mark Romanek’s Untitled Cinderella Story. After Disney’s Alice in Wonderland has grossed over $1 billion worldwide, the studio was quick to set more of their fairy tale properties in motion. They weren’t the only ones, as Universal also has a Cinderella project in the works, as the property is now public domain.
The most recognizable of the candidates, Ronan has had consistent offers since her performance in 2007′s Atonement. She could make the jump to full-fledged fandom when she next stars in The Host, written and directed by Andrew Niccol (In Time) and based on the sci-fi book by Twilight author, Stephenie Meyer. However, Ronan’s 2013 schedule already boasts a lead role in Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel and is attached to star in the historical drama, Mary Queen of Scots for Working Title.
Wilde has a pair of pictures set to debut in 2013: the Kimberley Peirce-directed remake/adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie, and the indie pic, Squatters, with Richard Dreyfus. Vikander is also a name to watch for, as she stars in Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina and will be seen next year in Sergey Bodrov’s The Seventh Son, alongside Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore.

I’m pulling for Saoirse. I loved her and Cate Blanchett in Hanna, which in its own right can be deemed a fairy tale-esque film. Seeing them both in these possible roles…yeah. I’d be okay with that.
Saoirse is my favorite to play. She has the right personality to play the character. But who knows what Hollywood likes to cast these days
Ronan is incredibly talented. Not familiar with the work of the other two candidates.

Saoirse is the best, by the time her career is finished she will be known as one of the greatest actors ever to have lived. Sounds kinda stupid to say that about someone so young, but she has screen presence that is mesmerising and talent that makes you believe in the characters that she portrays.
