With Glass, the conclusion of the trilogy M. Night Shyamalan back in 2000 with Unbreakable and later Split, now playing in theaters, now playing in theaters, I recently got to sit down with Sarah Paulson to talk about the film in New York City. During the interview, she discussed how Shyamalan originally didn’t know if her character would be a man or a woman, what it was like filming the hospital scene with Bruce WillisJames McAvoy and Samuel L. Jackson, if she is prepared for people to not like her character, and a lot more.

As most of you know, Glass pits the heroic David Dunn (Willis) against the villainous Kevin Wendell Crumb (McAvoy) with the enigmatic and devious Elijah Price (Jackson) pulling the strings. The film also stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Spencer Treat Clark.

Check out what Sarah Paulson had to say in the player above and below is exactly what we talked about.

Sarah Paulson:

  • Is she prepared for people to not like her character?
  • How much did M. Night Shyamalan tell her about the story and how much was it her reading the script for the first time?
  • How her character was written for either a male or female actor. Night wasn’t sure who would play it.
  • What was it like filming the hospital scene with Bruce Willis, James McAvoy and Samuel L. Jackson?

Here’s the official synopsis for Glass:

M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals—2000’s Unbreakable, from Touchstone Pictures, and 2016’s Split, from Universal—in one explosive, all-new comic-book thriller: Glass.

-

From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast.

-

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
