If the marketing is as good as the film, Buried is going to be a home run.  After the intriguing teaser and the awesome motion poster, MTV has debuted a Saul Bass-inspired poster for the film.  For those of you unfamiliar with Bass, he's best known for the posters he did for Hitchcock, and this poster for Buried closely resembles Bass' one for Vertigo. Like the previous posters, this new one makes the bold move of not showing the lovely mug of star Ryan Reynolds.  But with something as eye-catching as this, do you really need to?  It's also worth noting that the film garnered positive buzz at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

Directed by Rodrigo Cortés, the film stars Reynolds as a U.S. contractor working in Iraq.  He is kidnapped and awakens to find himself buried alive in a coffin with a lighter and a cell phone as his only resources.  Check out the poster after the jump.  Buried hits theaters on October 8th.

Here's the synopsis for Buried:

Paul Conroy is not ready to die. But when he wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him there or why, life for the truck driver and family man instantly becomes a hellish struggle for survival. Buried with only a cell phone and a lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery, and a dwindling oxygen supply become his worst enemies in a tightly confined race against time - fighting panic, despair and delirium, Paul has only 90 minutes to be rescued before his worst nightmare comes true.
