It’s so, so not, and Seth Rogen is here to remind us of that. The actor features in a new promo for the film that spoofs Walt Disney’s Imagineering with Seth Rogen’s Animation-Imaginatorium. Things quickly and brutally take a dark turn as footage from the film shatters that happy-go-lucky facade.may look like an animated film fit for the family, but it’s not.
Rogen introduces the lead character of Sausage Party, an anthropomorphic hot dog named Frank, who Rogen also voices. “Now Frank knows a lot of stuff,” he said, including how to dance and curtsey. “But what Frank doesn’t know might just kill him and everyone he loves.”
Sausage Party tells of food items living in a grocery store and waiting to be purchased by a family and brought to what they call The Great Beyond. When a bunch of them are finally taken there, they realize the hard reality about what humans do with what they buy (i.e. they eat them).

The film already has a Disney connection. Alan Menken composed a treasure trove’s worth of music for Disney films, including Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid, and he wrote songs for Sausage Party. Rogen teased one of them a while back with a photo of sheet music for “The Great Beyond.” Sadly, the film also flaunts a raunchy R rating.
Paul Rudd, Kristen Wiig, James Franco, Salma Hayek, Jonah Hill, Edward Norton, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, Danny McBride, Nick Kroll, Craig Robinson, and David Krumholtz are some of the names rounding out the voice cast for Sausage Party. Hill, Rogen, and Evan Goldberg came up with the story concept for directors Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon to helm.
Sausage Party will hit theaters on August 12.
