Cool Behind-the-Scenes Video on the Sounds of SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

If you have been paying any attention to the site the past week or so then you should know two things by now:

(1) Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a great film.
(2) In a disconcerting sign that the world may really be worse off than we previously thought, that very same Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was beaten at the box office by, well, most everyone.

With this in mind, if you are one of the few who saw the film this weekend, then you are going to want to continue to do the right thing and check out the sweet behind-the-scenes video available on the film’s SoundWorks Collection profile.  Trust me, if you are a fan of the film and/or film sound design in general, you will enjoy the video which features commentary from re-recording mixers Chris Burdon and Doug Cooper as well as effects editors James Harrison, Ben Meechan, and Julian Slater.  To check out the fun yet educational video (the two are not mutually exclusive), hit the jump.

If you ask me (and I’ll assume you are because you haven’t left the site yet), Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a triumph in filmmaking that will almost certainly inspire future filmmakers to challenge many of the conventions that exist within the medium.  As such, the sound within the film is just one of the aspects which I found exceeding my expectations during each of my two viewings.  If you haven’t checked out the film yet, go see it at the risk of forfeiting your so-called “good taste in movies.”

Scott Pilgrim was a pretty cool movie, it was definitely quite unique. It was a little bit on the geek side (something I might've loved a lot more when I was 15), but the excessive anime nerdness got to me a bit (especially the girlfriend fight scene, that girl was so clearly a Naruto fan lol). Either way a pretty awesome movie, and I can't deny the soundtrack was amazing.

This movie is fucking brilliant. Anyone who DOESN'T go see it can eat the full 15 inches of my cock.

I think I need a break from Collider until they let go of this whole Scott Pilgrim thing… my justification started as “well, they scored alot of cast and crew interviews which is why they're talking about the movie so much” but that has quickly turned into “there's something strange going on when they guard a movie so much that they'd rather insult the rest of the world than admit any faults”

if you're not interested in the article don't click the link. Theres plenty variety on here.

Yep, for instance I ignore all articles about Megan Fox (or comment on how much she sucks dick). She should've been a porn star, not a film actress.

I'm not sure anyone at the site has claimed the film is perfect. For instance, I think the pacing could be improved as the narrative has the tendency to drag at times in between fight scenes. However, that doesn't mean it's not an excitingly fresh take on the age-old story of teenage angst/love.

Also, I'm unsure how myself or anyone else has insulted the rest of the world via our “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” coverage. Thanks for reading!

Very cool video- wish they went into how they made the sounds opposed to just saying what inspired them. Still a cool and interesting video though.
