Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is slated to hit DVD and Blu-ray on November 9th. Special features include deleted and alternate scenes, bloopers, and cast and director commentary. Judging by the releases for Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, I’m sure there will be plenty more extras (both discs are must-owns). As we reported in August, there’s also a special feature that shows off a piece of animation that Wright’s brother Oscar did back in 2008 that demonstrated the physics of Scott’s massive hit-combo against Matthew Patel in the first fight.
Hit the jump for a list of special features that will be on the UK version (and hopefully the US version as well). Scott Pilgrim vs. The World has an MSRP of $29.98 on DVD and $39.98 on Blu-ray.
[Update: we received a press release with full details on the home video release, plus a high-resolution image of the cover art. Check out the updates after the jump.]
Bleeding Cool reports that the UK DVD/Blu-ray will offer:
- 5 minutes and 45 seconds of TV spots
- A 1 minute and 24 second international trailer
- An audio commentary with Michael Cera, Jason Schwartzman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ellen Wong, and Brandon Routh
- Another with Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Kieran Culkin, and Mark Webber
- 20 minutes and 11 seconds of “Additional material Bonus X 2 3 Trailers” – is that twenty three trailers? (Note: I think there are three extra trailers and the “Bonus X 2″ is a video game/in-movie reference).
- The “main” trailer and teaser
- The Osymyso remix clips, totaling a run time of 9 minutes and 13 seconds.
Even without a glut of special features, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World has the potential to be a demo disc when it comes to picture quality and sound. Here’s hoping Universal delivers the goods on what sould be one of the must-buy discs of 2010.

SYNOPSIS
Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for totally average garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams…literally. The only catch to winning Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him. Genre-smashing filmmaker Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) tells the amazing story of one romantic slacker’s quest to power up with love in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Scott Pilgrim has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It’s getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart’s ass—and now is back in town—to the teenage distraction he’s trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn’t been easy. He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes controls her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor. As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues’ gallery from her past—from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsomely identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.

I hope the DVD is loaded. Some of us still can’t afford HDTVs or Blu-Ray players.
Kind of off topic but I probably wouldn’t buy it even If I could afford it. Blu-Ray looks like live TV. SUCKS!
No, it doesn’t. That usually depends on what kind of TV you’re watching it on. I love blu rays, and every one I own looks like it was suppose to; in glorious high definition. GLORIOUS!
To be fair, I have heard that you’re supposed to adjust it so it doesn’t look like live TV. But two of my friends have brand new TVs and Blu-ray players and they both look like live TV. Plus the displays at Best Buy look like live TV. And they are supposed to be set up perfectly. I have yet to see Blu-ray that doesn’t look like live TV.
You absolutely can adjust it. The TVs at Best Buy are not at all set up perfectly. They’re typically pulled straight out of the box and set to “display mode,” which pumps up the colors and contrast to unnatural levels to attract eyes. The problem is that once you get people over there and they study it for more than a second, it does in fact look like live TV.
The sad fact is that most people don’t know how to calibrate it for their home.
I have a plasma TV, and properly calibrated with a good Blu-Ray transfer (Criterion stuff, Warner classics, some newer stuff) it looks almost exactly like film. It’s really quite stunning.
I’m a little lost. What the heck does “live TV” mean in terms of picture? That things are overly bright?
Maybe it’s because I don’t watch much news on TV, and only epic shows like Scooby-Doo and Mad Men. Hrmmm.
The “live TV” look means that it looks like it was shot with a video camera. So it looks like video and not film. Like an SNL skit for example.
You can even see the difference in the new trailer for THE FIGHTER. Most of the film looks like it was shot in film. But when they switch to the fighting scenes you can tell it was shot with some sort of HD video.
Hmm, it makes sense. Actually that’s great to hear. Thanks.
Hmm, it makes sense. Actually that’s great to hear. Thanks.
Yeah it’s not the blu-ray format that does that; its the TV. Most high def TVs with the highest resolution have a setting that does that to it and can be turned off. Tell you friends to turn off the “dynamic mode” or “display mode” or what ever the brand of TV they call their picture processor off. It looks way better.
Cool dude. Thanks.
I am definitely on board, but I am definitely NOT paying 40 bucks for the Blu unless it has like 5 discs. Hell… NO. Saw this film three times and loved it to death every time.
I’d pay 40 bucks for this movie. I consider it a donation for somebody creating such a great work and not getting the box office cred they deserve. If I was going to be cheap about my love I’d have just downloaded it off the net and not seen it 4 times in theaters.
I’ll save my frugality for movies that I dislike.

$40 bucks is ridiculous though. It really is. If I can snag it for ~30, I’ll grab it. I saw it once for a press screening, and twice on my own dime. I got a ton of friends and family to see it as well, so I did my part to help raise the box office performance. Oh, and I bought the special edition soundtrack as well.
I agree that I will be frugal about films I don’t like, but I’m not a blind consumer either. $40 bucks is $40 bucks.
It’s only $27.99 at FYE and $24.99 everywhere else.
It has over 18-hours of Special Features.
Wow,This is a great movie.
We absolutely loved this movie, can’t believe it is already coming out on DVD- cannot wait. Check out and see what we thought of the original at UBER SCOOP at the link below.
