For those not too jaded by a Wachowski sibling project after Jupiter Ascending, their new series, Sense8, is debuting its 12 episodes on Netflix in just a few days (June 5th, to be exact). The series follows 8 individuals from all over the world, who become linked as “sensates” (puns!) both mentally and emotionally. They can access each other’s knowledge, language, and skills, but also each other’s deepest secrets.

In the new character trailers below, a little 8 in the corner marks the moment that character becomes connected to another sensate. As they are told, “you are no longer just you, you have 7 other selves.” Naveen Andrews’ character does not seem to be on the 8 though, but some sort of a guide. But what is the end game? And what is this connection supposed to help them do?
